Can Neurotherapy Trigger Seizures?

My son's seizures are very focal.  Visual stimulation can provoke him to have a seizure.  When he concentrates in school (trying to read, do math) he can tend to have a seizure.  I would like to try Neurotherapy, but I am afraid that the visual stimulation will provoke a seizure.  Has anyone had this happen?

At First?

It seems like it might be better if he did experience a seizure while the doctor was mapping out his brain while getting an EEG. This way, the doctor would know exactly where his seizures were coming from, the severity, in order to create a treatment plan for him to "adjust" and correct his brain waves. What do you think?

I'm looking into neurotherapy for my son soon--even though the diet eliminates his seizures and keeps him calm, he still has a lot of fixation problems and isn't progressing as quickly as I would like.

Great question Amy

I think it is great that you are asking this question. When Adam went for the neurotherapy, he did not get a lot of visual flashing.  The treatments were very interesting. On the computer screen, there was balloons in a box.  When he concentrated, the ballons moved - thats it. It was very simple.

I know Dr Swingle also has other methods of treatment for each individual case. If Andrew is suseptible to seizure triggers, Dr. Swingle will work with that. The treatments are not only good for behaviour and learning problems, but they are a treatment for epilepsy as well.  They were what worked to get Adam off the ketogenic diet.

If you go to Dr. Swingles' website- www.swingleandassociates.com and post a question. He will answer you personally.

Neurotherapy can be helpful

Neurotherapy can be helpful in the
treatment of the effects of stroke and to increase seizure threshold. You should contact any good Neurotherapy practitioner.
