My eight year old had her first seizure July 4th 2009. We were told it was probably a fluke...July 15th she had her secomd seizure. She bagan meds and had her third 7/21/09. When she bagan meds she started having constant absence seizures. Her next seizure was Aug 1st. We were seizure free and thought it was over until Aug 29th when she has a six minute seizure. The next step was emergency meds. Her meds were uped and I thought we were seizure free. 10/22/09 an EEG showed seizures (absence) every 15 minutes when awake and asleep and her MRI showed simple complex seizures. I have been telling the doctors that I have seen three different seizure types, but they refuse to believe me. Now the doctors are saiyng that the MRI must have been read wrong. I fear that she has Lennox-Gastaut. I have a fairly normal eight year old child, and I am scared to loose her as this gets worse. I plan to call her Neurologist tomorrow to see if they have looked into this, or if possibly there is some way to rule it out. This is pretty much our story. One interesting link is that she did have a temporary form of JRA due to the MMR vacine and I have read some Epilepsy triggered by the MMR. My child was paralyzed for 7 and 1/2 weeks, and I wonder if there is a link to her current seizures. That is our story.
